● CHESS TOURNAMENT
Saturday, June 15, 9:30 AM
School Settlement
120 Jackson Street, Brooklyn, NY

Town Square has partnered with PS 34 and School Settlement to bring a chess tournament to Greenpoint. The tournament is open to all elementary school students and is FREE. Registration forms are available at PS 34, PS 18, PS 250, School Settlement, and here. Spaces are limited & registrations will be accepted on a first-come basis.

**
Regardless of whether you're a chess fan, you'll want to check out the free screening of BROOKLYN CASTLE on Friday, June 14. If you haven't heard about BROOKLYN CASTLE, it is the critically acclaimed documentary about the chess champions at our local IS 318! By the way, IS 318 and their chess champions helped create the chess program at our Greenpoint Y, PS 34, & other local schools. Thank you so much, IS 318!

● BRING-BACK-THE-MUSIC
IS 318 Benefit Concert at the Brooklyn Bowl

Sunday, June 23, 5 PM (6 PM showtime)
Brooklyn Bowl
61 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
$10 tickets; $5 for students

And speaking of IS 318, Town Square is delighted to partner up with CM Steve Levin, Brooklyn Bowl, Norman & Elaine Brodsky, Main Drag Music, and Brooklyn Brewery to sponsor the school's BRING-BACK-THE-MUSIC benefit concert at the Brooklyn Bowl.

IS 318 is a Title 1 school, with a majority of families living on the poverty level. Bring-Back-The-Music is a first-of-its-kind fundraiser for this school. Proceeds will help keep alive the school's afterschool programs: the Chess Champions, an unbelievable Concert Band that plays at Carnegie Hall every year, one of the best Middle School Marching Bands in NYC, a Robotics Team that took 2nd place honors in NYC, a Girl's Basketball Team that took 1st place honors in NYC, and more.

It will be a night to celebrate an amazing local school, help continue their tradition of excellence, and enjoy the company of good friends.

By the way, all graduating 5th Graders in our 3 local Greenpoint elementary schools: PS 31, PS 34, PS 110, will receive tickets to BRING-BACK-THE-MUSIC concert as a commencement gift from Town Square and members of our Greenpoint business community:  Allstate, Au Gourmet, Greenpoint Toy Center, Billy's Locksmith, Imagic Studio, Josef & Sons, North Brooklyn Development Corporation, Urban Rustic. Just a wonderful thing to do for our community and a great way to do something nice for our graduating elementary school students and help IS 318, a school that many of these graduating students will attend next year.  What wonderful community partners and neighbors we have!

● BROOKLYN SCIENCE & ARTS MUSEUM Next Planning Meeting
   Wednesday, July 10, 7 PM
   Location TBA

Wouldn't you love to see a Science & Arts Museum here in North Brooklyn? If your answer is YES, please join us! With all the wonderful talent in our community, anything can happen!

Let's not forget that $19.5 MM is available to Greenpoint from Greenpoint Environmental Benefits Projects! What a great opportunity to launch the museum!

We are also developing a Museum without Walls: pop-up museums, salons & symposiums - so emblematic of the unique indie, can-do spirit of Brooklyn! In fact, our first pop-UP Museum was held at Go Green! Greenpoint Festival on Saturday, May 18th in McCarren Park. We're currently working on the next pop-up and salon. If you have something in mind, please let us know.

While not necessary, your RSVP for the July meeting to info@townsquareinc.com would be greatly appreciated. And please become a FB friend and "like" us to stay updated between meetings.
