SummerStarz 2009 marks the fifth year that Town Square offers free family entertainment for the Greenpoint/Williamsburg community at the spectacular East River State Park.  Held on Thursday evenings throughout July and August, each SummerStarz evening begins with a Children’s Hour at 6 pm (arts & crafts, games, music and/or theater sessions), followed by a live musical performance at 7 pm, and a family friendly movie at sunset.

7 pm  Fenix Down (great local band, opening for the Jonas Bros)
8 pm  Movie: The Incredibles

Thursday, July 30th, featured RockCity Theatrics, a talented music theater group; Fenix Down, an amazing rock band; and The Incredibles, a family classic for young and the young at heart.  I am Tree, a terrific kids short by Lindsay Kovnat, will be shown on August 6th. 
  
We also offered recycling services for textiles, books, toys and e-waste at this Thursdays' Summer Starz evening. As we always say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. People brought their gently used clothes, bedding, books, toys, and electronics and carted away as much as they pleased. All remaining items were donated to a local charity.
