Town Square’s GO GREEN! GREENPOINT! Earth Day festival was the first Earth Day celebration in North Brooklyn. Held on Saturday, April 19th, the day included: (a) education with schools, community groups, and companies displaying research or art projects that will enhance our appreciation and understanding of our environment, (b) recycling with stations for bicycles, electronic equipment, sensitive paper documents, clothing, books, and toys, (c) creativity with writing and art contests for children and adults, (d) wellness with judo, yoga, and other classes, (e) vendors with enviro-friendly merchandise, and (f) live music and dance performances.
GO GREEN! GREENPOINT! Earth Day kicked off with speeches from our local politicians, including NYS Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and NYC Councilmember David Yassky and was a fun-filled educational day, involving many different parts of our Greenpoint and Williamsburg community.
