The Polish Night on July 9th was rained out due to inclement weather. Fortunately, we were able to offer the live performance and movie agan on September 10th.

LIVE PERFORMANCE would have presented the Polish American Folk Dance Company, a traditional Polish folk dance company based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with an outstanding reputation throughout North America and Poland. (718-907-6199, www.pafdc.org)
SUNSET MOVIE would have shown Pan Tadeusz (Poland, 2000, 120 min. NR). Based on a famous Polish poem, this romantic epic follows two feuding Polish families, the Soplicas and the Horeszkos, during the time of the Napoleonic wars.
CHILDREN'S HOUR featured an imaginative arts/crafts session with the Greenpoint Toy Center, an awesome toy store in Greenpoint (718.383.3437, 735 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn).
LIVE PERFORMANCE by Opus Ditty & the Hoedown Gang, a hip, neo-traditional music group. Their approach to children’s music, with a blend of pop, rock, country and storytelling, takes the whole family on an uplifting musical adventure. SUNSET MOVIE played Ice Age (USA, 2002, 81 min. PG). A delightful Oscar nominated animated film involving a wooly mammoth, a sloth and a saber tooth tiger - who find a lost human baby and try to return him to his tribe.
Unfortunately, SummerStarz Latin Night was rained out. Stay tuned, however, for we hope to bring it back next year for SummerStarz 2009!

SUNSET MOVIE would shown The Mambo Kings (France, 1992, 104 min). With suitcases full of song and hearts filled with passion, two brothers, Cesar and Nestor, leave Cuba for America in the 1950 in search of a dream. Cesar is the older brother, the business manager and the ladies' man. Nestor is the brooding songwriter, who cannot forget the woman in Cuba who broke his heart.
