Town Square was thrilled to present SchoolFEST 2008 on Saturday, September 20th.  This was the first time that all schools in Greenpoint and Williamsburg (daycare centers to high schools, private and public) were invited to a single informative fun-filled day. This was a wonderful event for the entire community.

Our objective was to gather our Greenpoint/Williamsburg schools to one location for an enrollment drive and fundraiser.  William Jusino, the Principal of PROGRESS High School, generously agreed to host the event at the Grand Street Campus, located at Grand Street and Bushwick Avenue (conveniently next to the Grand Street stop on the L-subway line).

SchoolFEST featured booths and representatives by each school.  We hoped to help parents learn about the many different programs that are offered in our neighborhood for their children.  Town Square also ran a carnival designed to attract a great turnout.

SchoolFEST drew the enthusiastic support of our local political leaders. NYC Councilmembers Diana Reyna and David Yassky and District Manager Gerald Esposito partnered with Town Square for this event.  In addition, Democratic District Leader Steve Cohn provided invaluable organizational assistance.  An amazing ground swell of support from our entire community developed for this event, with the participation of over 50 schools, day care centers, and after-school programs.  This was an incredible opportunity for our schools to generate much needed publicity and funding.
